We educate clients on melasma's biological function in the skin, triggers and how to maintain clearance. Although melasma chronic and permanent, at Mirra Skin our clearance rate ranges from 45-85% improvement over a 6 month period.
Using two powerful professional approaches, Cosmelan Depigmentation Therapy and Medical-Grade Retinol Peels, both in conjunction with tyrosinase inhibiting homecare, we target the root cause of pigmentation at a cellular level to improve brightness, balance, and radiance into the skin.

What is Cosmelan?
Cosmelan is a professional depigmentation 6-month method designed to treat severe forms of hyperpigmentation such as melasma, sun damage, and uneven tone.
This six-month program works by reducing the appearance of dark spots while regulating melanin production to prevent new pigmentation from forming - delivering both corrective and long-term results.

— WHAT TO EXPECT —
Your Cosmelan journey begins in-clinic, where a professional mask is applied and worn for 8–12 hours before being removed at home. Seventy-Two hours later, you’ll begin your prescribed homecare routine, continuing for approximately six months to ensure gradual, consistent lightening and maintenance.

Your Cosmelan pack and professional peel will be ordered after a full payment is received (which can be paid in instalments for Mirra Skin Club Members) including your skincare to prepare, sooth and maintain your skin along this six-month journey.

RETINOL PEELS
What is a Retinol Peel?
Retinol, a potent derivative of Vitamin A, is one of the most clinically proven ingredients in dermatology. Its small molecular size allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin, accelerating cell turnover, stimulating collagen production, and resurfacing dull or damaged skin.
A Retinol Peel helps reveal fresher, clearer skin beneath, reducing pigmentation, improving texture, and restoring radiance. Retinol Peels are great maintenance treatments for Cosmelan patients or for patients with superficial melasma/pigmentation.

— PRE & POST CARE —

Preparation:
Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and sun exposure for 1 week prior to your appointment.
Skin must be prepared with lightening or retinol serums which allows for a more controlled skin response and increases the success of the results.

During Treatment:
The peel is applied to clean skin and left on for eight hours. Patients do not usually feel any discomfort with this cold peel when applied to the skin.

After Treatment:
Mild redness, itching, moderate peeling may occur for 7-10 days as old skin sheds and new, brighter skin emerges. Avoid makeup and sun exposure during this period and protect the skin with SPF daily using the essential post treatment ingredients to sooth and hydrate.
Both the Cosmelan Series and Retinol Peels offer powerful results for pigmentation, but differ in intensity, downtime, cost and maintenance.
